The “th” sound can feel awkward at first, even for a lot of learners, but once you get the feel of it, it becomes natural.
Think of it like this. You gently place the tip of your tongue just between your teeth. Not too far out, just touching lightly. Then you let the air pass.
There are two versions of this sound.
The first one is soft, like in “think” or “three”. You just blow air out. Your throat stays relaxed, no vibration. It almost feels like a quiet breath.
The second one is voiced, like in “this” or “they”. Same tongue position, but now you use your voice. If you touch your throat, you’ll feel a slight vibration.
A simple way to notice the difference is to say “think” and then “this”. Your mouth barely changes, but your throat does.
Don’t worry if it feels strange in the beginning. That’s completely normal. Even small daily practice like saying “thank you” or “this is” slowly will help your tongue get used to it.
