What we collect

Name, email, and avatar from Google or Discord sign-in.
Profile info you add, like username, bio, country, and languages.
Room activity stats, like total minutes and conversation count.
Follow and moderation data needed for safety features.
Encrypted DM message content (encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM).

What we do not collect

Your Google or Discord password.
Precise GPS location.
Identity documents.
Voice recording files from live rooms.

How we use data

We use data to run authentication, show profiles, power voice rooms and DMs, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We also use session cookies so you stay signed in.

Message Encryption

Direct messages (Hangouts) are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database. This means plaintext messages are never directly visible in the database layer.

Because the encryption key is stored server-side, Talk4Now operators can decrypt messages when necessary for safety and moderation purposes (e.g., investigating abuse reports). This is not end-to-end encryption — messages are encrypted on the server rather than on your device.

Public chat rooms are not encrypted, as they are designed for open community interaction.

Retention and control

We keep data only as needed for product operations and safety. You can edit your profile at any time. For legal details, read our Terms of Service.

Delete account requests

If you want to delete your account, open your profile and use the Delete my account request form. We process deletion requests manually and confirm by email.
