Trying to memorize long lists of words usually doesn’t work well. The brain forgets quickly if there’s no meaning or use behind it. A better way is to make each word feel “alive.”
Start by learning words in context, not alone. Instead of just learning “happy,” learn a full sentence like “I feel happy when I finish my work.” This helps your brain connect the word with a real situation.
Use the word the same day. Say it out loud, write a sentence, or try to use it in a small conversation. Even talking to yourself works. The more you use a word, the stronger it stays in your memory.
Repetition matters, but not all at once. Review words after a few hours, then the next day, then after a few days. This spaced repetition helps your brain store it for the long term.
Make it personal. If you learn the word “travel,” think about a place you want to visit and create a sentence around your own life. Personal meaning makes memory stronger.
You can also use simple tools like Anki or Quizlet. They repeat words at the right time so you don’t forget easily.
Another powerful trick is visualization. When you learn a word, imagine it. For example, if the word is “apple,” picture a real apple in your mind. Images stick much better than plain text.
And don’t be afraid to forget sometimes. Forgetting and then relearning is actually part of how memory becomes stronger.
