That happens to everyone even people who are quite good at English. It doesn’t mean you’re bad at it, it just means your brain is still learning to use words quickly.
When you forget a word, don’t stop speaking. Try to explain it in another way. For example, if you forget “calculator,” you can say “the machine we use for counting numbers.” The goal is communication, not perfection.
You can also use simple filler phrases to give yourself a second to think. Things like “how can I say…” or “I mean…” help you stay in the conversation without feeling stuck.
Another helpful habit is to keep your sentences simple. When we try to use very advanced words, we freeze more often. Clear and simple English is always better than complicated English with mistakes.
If you forget the same word again and again, that’s a sign you need to practice it more actively. Use it in sentences, say it out loud, and connect it to your daily life so it comes faster next time.
Also, give your brain time. Understanding a word and using it in real conversation are two different skills. With practice, your speaking speed and memory will naturally improve.
And honestly, people don’t expect perfect English. They just want to understand you. Keep talking, even if it’s not perfect that’s how fluency grows.
