The difference between “much” and “many” is actually very simple. It depends on what you are talking about.
We use “many” for things we can count
Like apples, books, people, cars
Examples:
How many books do you have?
There are many students in the class
I don’t have many friends
We use “much” for things we cannot count
Like water, money, time, sugar
Examples:
How much water do you drink?
I don’t have much time
There isn’t much sugar in the tea
Easy trick to remember
If you can count it, use many
If you cannot count it, use much
